Edfu, Egypt -- The inner temple at Edfu is surrounded by tall hallways and outer chambers. Edfu temple is relatively new by Egyptian standards, having been built during the Ptolemaic dynasties in the period 237 to 57 BC. Because it was built by the last Egyptian pharonic dynasties, it was not canibalized by successor dynasties and so is well preserved, still having complete walls and roof surrounding the inner, central temple area dedicated to the Falcon god Horus. © Rick Collier /...
