Luxor, Egypt -- Sphinxes line both sides of the road approaching Luxor Temple. The road originally extended all the way between Karnak and Luxor temples. Luxor temple was built principally by two pharoahs, Ramses II and Amenhotep III, and was the companion temple to Karnak for worship of the Theban triad of gods, Amun, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu. While Karnak was the home of Amun, his wife Mut and son Khonsu resided at Luxor. © Rick Collier / RickCollier.com
