Only half of the carefully preserved sand dunes remain at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, USA, following a major Atlantic northeast storm (nor'easter) that was spawned by the remnants of Hurricane Ida in November 2009. The storm brought in exceptionally high tides and waves, which flooded parts of the eastern seaboard, but in Rehoboth mainly eroded the dunes and excavated the beach.
