Bonaire, Netherland Antilles -- A young flamingo begs for food from its parent. Flamingos flock and nest in the lakes at the north of Bonaire. The flamingo is born white or gray, then acquires its coloration from chemicals in the fish it eats. This accounts for the variation in colors between different individuals.
